This is an online course open to health care professionals who are interested in Emergency Aid pitch-side trauma and/or are planning to attend the pitch-side trauma course which forms part of the UEFA Workshop 1 Medical Emergencies (Sports Promote) qualification, approved by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. This online modular course is not a qualification in its own right but is intended to be an additional learning resource. In order to fully benefit from the course, you are required to read/watch all of the learning material and complete all of the quizzes (100% pass mark) and then take and pass final true/false exam (80% pass mark). However, in order to gain the UEFA FDEP Medical Emergencies (Sports Promote) qualification, in addition to passing this course, you are required to read the course manual and then finally attend (and pass) the 2-day face to face practical workshop. The pitch-side qualification is aimed primarily at medical professionals who are either currently working in football (or any other sport) or would like to work within sport in the future which may involve providing pitch side medical care. The overall aim of the course is to learn how to recognise, diagnose and effectively and efficiently intervene for limb and life-threatening injuries/illnesses that commonly occur in a sporting environment with the intention to improve the rate of survival and the overall recovery status of a casualty. Excellent depth of content delivered

    4

Various topics were covered by different means – via written content as well as videos.
Only negative is that the flow/structure of the content and topics could be better.
Sometimes, the audios on the videos were not audible, especially the response of the students attending the recorded seminars. This made following the lecture difficult. Could easily be solved by adding captions to all the videos.

Good content via videos and text

  55. AXN349@student.bham.ac.ukJanuary 16, 2024 at 9:22 am

Very comprehensive course but there is still room for improvement.

    4

Some of the videos can be shot again as the audio is not clear. I would have liked to see some more detail in respect to stabilization of fracture site.

  56. Good overview

    4

Some of the questions in the end of module quizzes and final quiz were not covered during this course or were not applicable to the associated video. for example in the A to E review the MOI was head and chest trauma but the correct answer was ‘play in circle fell untouched’ two completely different answers that lead to different management. There are also quite a few typos in some of the text sessions which isn’t the end of the word but I would expect some proof-reading especially in a course this expensive.

  58. 22132174@bucks.ac.ukDecember 12, 2023 at 2:36 pm

    Great Information

    4

Enjoyed both practical and comprehensive elements of the course, and would feel somewhat confident and familiar with equipment and procedures used in BLS and ALS. I would however say that some of the questions in the final quiz, we’re not covered in the course or mentioned in further reading. I can understand why it would need to be understood, but it seems a little unfair considering it was not mentioned in the course word for words its self. Other than that thoroughly enjoyed the course as it calls on your quick thinking and organisational skills as well as other key skills that are encompassed pitch side. I now feel motivated to implement some of the key concepts into future work.

    3

Easy to navigate and digest. Easy to go back to and pick up where you left off. Some videos wouldn’t load and some content outdated (covid / concussion guidelines). Some questions within course quizzes incorrect – answers different to what was shown in the videos.

    3

I thought the course was very thorough but there should be more quizzes to solidify content knowledge rather than to check that the user was paying attention to the demo video. I also found the layout quite challenging, having more complex information at the start and then easier content towards the end.

Great information, really useful and interesting.
There were a few questions in the quizzes that had 2 answers that were the same, other than that I didn’t experience any issues

  87. Informative and enjoyable RATE(4.5)

    4

The course itself was amazing and very informative in how to handle and tackle emergency situations. Although there were few bugs on the quiz, it was quickly resolved. The videos helped me understand and grasp more information easier. Sound of the lecturers for this course were also very clear and loud although not so much for the students who was involved (mic too far away/not focused on them probably). The course overall was very interesting and kept me engaged. I gave it a 4 stars only (if possible would give 4.5 stars) because the website is quite buggy and have to keep refreshing, sometimes it would not load at all and also, it is not fully supported on your handheld device otherwise a brilliant course.

  88. A great tool despite some minor issues

Some minor issues; images not displayed correctly, typos and also sometimes frustrating time restrictions (although understandable as to why they are in place). Overall a very useful and successful tool.

The course is obviously new and with teething problems but overall better than the original read a book and answer questions. a lot more engaging and feel more learning has taken place.
